Gwinnett Gladiators Fall in Greenville Again, 6-3
Despite loss in Greenville, Gladiators remain in first place in South Division.
The Gwinnett Gladiators fell to the Greenville Road Warriors 6-3 Tuesday night at the BI-LO Center. The Gladiators (27-13-7-4) have not won in Greenville (30-18-1-2) since Jan. 14, 2011, and dropped to 0-5-1-0 there this season. Gwinnett, however, remains in first place in the South Division.
Goaltender Jason Missiaen stopped 32 shots for Greenville, as the Road Warriors went 2-for-6 on the power play to Gwinnett’s 0-for-4 effort. Joe Palmer took his first loss as a Gladiator, making 27 saves.

A thrilling opening period started with a bang, as Tyler Murovich dropped the gloves with Warriors forward Brandon Wong, and Gwinnett forward Ryley Grantham scrapped with T.J. Reynolds. There were fireworks on the score sheet as well.
Gladiators forward Justin Milo buried a phenomenal centering feed by Nikita Kashirsky to open the scoring at 4:20 of the first. Pat Galivan had the other assist, as Kashirsky extended his point streak to 14 games.

Greenville tied the game at 5:29, but the Gladiators answered at 14:38. Forward Bryan Brutlag roofed a wrister over Missiaen off a pass by Tyler Murovich to make it 2-1 Gwinnett. Brutlag’s 13th of the season was also assisted by Joey Haddad, and the Gladiators carried a one-goal lead into the first intermission.
Greenville came back with the only two goals of the second, as Marc-Olivier Vallerand at 3:38 and Wong at 19:08 on the power play put Greenville ahead 3-2 after 40 minutes.
The Road Warriors added to their lead in the third. Brett Robinson at 3:38, Jyri Niemi on the power play at 16:03, and an empty-netter by Vallerand late made it 6-2. Tyler Murovich tacked on a late goal for the Gladiators with Tyler Kindle and Milo assisting. The point was Kindle’s first since joining the Gladiators.
The Gladiators next two games are also away. The Gwinnett team plays the Chicago Express at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, and the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.
