Kroger Giving $22,000 to Local Schools

Chattahoochee Elementary School in Duluth among 10 Gwinnett County schools awarded Earning Plus Learning grants for promoting 'Healthy Living.'


Kroger’s Atlanta Division is donating a total of $22,000 in grants to 10 Gwinnett County schools as part of its Earning Plus Learning program. Chattahoochee Elementary School in Duluth is among the grant recipients.

Kroger invited schools across the Atlanta Division to creatively demonstrate how they promoted the 2011-2012 theme “Healthy Living” in their communities. The Atlanta Division includes Kroger stores in Georgia, South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee and Northern Alabama. www.kroger.com

“Throughout the years, Kroger’s Earning Plus Learning program has donated millions of dollars to local schools and students,” said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, in announcing the grants. “Once again, we are honored to reward these exceptional schools that have worked so hard to set an example in their communities.”

  • St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School in Lilburn
  • W.C. Britt in Snellville

 $1,500 grant winners are:

  • Burnett Elementary in Suwanee, Ga.
  • Chattahoochee Elementary in Duluth
  • Dacula Elementary in Dacula
  • Grayson Elementary in Grayson
  • Parsons Elementary in Suwanee
  •  Riverside Elementary in Suwanee
  • Walnut Grove Elementary in Suwanee
  • White Oak Elementary in Sugar Hill

School entries included scrapbooks, photos, videos, essays, news clippings and more.  A panel of judges comprised of local and regional community leaders and the Kroger Community Involvement Team reviewed the entries.

Sixty-three elementary and middle schools in the Atlanta Division will receive a total of $146,950 in grants through the program.
