Dunwoody Police Awarded Grant For Car Seat Safety Program

The 2017 Car Seat Mini-Grant was given to the police force by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

DUNWOODY, GA -- The Dunwoody Police Department is the recipient of a state grant to further educate residents on car seat safety.

The 2017 Car Seat Mini-Grant by the Georgia Department of Public Health's Injury Prevention Program means Dunwoody police and firefighters will continue to provide car seats and motor vehicle safety.

The car and booster seats provided by the program since 2007 gave saved the lives of more than 300 Georgia children, the police force said.

“It’s our responsibility to keep our children safe,” Dunwoody Police Chief Billy Grogan said in a statement. “The Car Seat Mini-Grant is a great opportunity to help our community and help protect our children from serious injuries or death in motor vehicle crashes.”

This program is funded by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the police force said.

Dunwoody is one of several metro Atlanta police departments that provide free car seat checks to residents.
