- Marathon Bridge Tournament. Join the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) for a marathon of bridge games to support the Alzheimer’s Association. The ACBL is the inaugural national partner of The Longest Day — a sunrise-to-sunset event starting at 6 a.m., Friday, honoring the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer’s disease. Participants in The Longest Day will complete approximately 16 hours of a consecutive activity —such as playing bridge — to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. 4757 Luray Drive. - Northside 5K Run/Walk. Northside Hospital holds its fourth annual Stroke Awareness 5K Run/Walk at 7 a.m., Saturday, at the Northside/Interchange Professional Building, 5780 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Atlanta. All proceeds benefit the Stroke Support Groups at Northside Hospital. The Stroke 5K entry fee is $25 and all walkers and runners will receive a T-shirt at the finish. - CAC Food ’n Fun Festival. The Community Assistance Center holds its first annual Food `n Fun Festival, from 2-6 p.m., Sunday at the Morgan Falls Athletic Complex. The event includes a Hunger Awareness Walk, parade, Frisbee golf, a kids zone, arts and crafts, live music and food. Admission is one food item. A minimum $10 gets you a Food ‘n Fun t-shirt or CAC canvas bag. The CAC serves families in need in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.
- Sunday Bike Ride. The 36-mile ride starts from Chick-fil-A at Mount Vernon and Abernathy Road, and follows one of two routes both of which have a lot of climbing. 8 a.m., Free.
- Pet Adoptions. The Homeless Pets Foundation has pets available for adoption on Saturdays from 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon-4:30 p.m. at Petsmart, 128 Perimeter Center West. Volunteers are always needed. Visit http://www.homelesspets.com/Volunteer.php_ for more details.
