Crime Warnings Issued for Grant Park

Editor's note: this warning was posted today by the Grant Park Security Patrol:

In the past few days there have been two disturbing incidents here on the east side of Grant Park. Two women were robbed while exiting their vehicle on Ormewood Avenue in the 700 block. This incident occured at around midnight. We do no have a description of suspects.

On Saturday night, also around midnight, at Oldfield on Mead Street, one resident had his car stolen and a couple was robbed and shot at while entering their residence.

The suspects are young black males, two or four in the group. Since the incidents occured almost simultaneously, it's not clear exactly how many were involved.

BE ALERT AND AWARE LATE AT NIGHT WHILE ENTERING YOUR HOME.
ALWAYS CALL 911 TO REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AND TRY TO GET AN ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF SUSPECTS AND VEHICLES.

We are now discussing the possibilty of adding several night shifts for our patrols. We'll be searching for an evening watch officer who would patrol for us in the 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. time period a couple nights a week.
