GDOT Seeks Input about SRTS Project for Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School
An open house will be held on Aug. 27, while written feedback will be accepted until Sept. 6.

Staff Report
The Georgia Department of Transportation will conduct an informal public information open house this week. Georgia DOT invites residents to learn about the Georgia Safe Routes to School project for the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School – elementary and middle school campuses.
The Georgia Safe Routes to School project proposes to install a protected two-way bike lane on existing pavement. The project also proposes to install rectangular rapid flashing beacons at crosswalks. The beacons flash high-intensity light to notify motorists when pedestrians use the cross walk. Lastly, the project proposes to install curb bulb-outs, which are constructed to narrow the travel lanes while creating a shorter and safer walking distance for pedestrians.

The informal open house is from 5 p.m., until 7 p.m., on Thursday, August 27 at the Georgia DOT - Transportation Management Center, 935 East Confederate Avenue Building 24, Atlanta, Georgia 30316. Residents can ask questions about the proposed project and the Georgia Safe Routes to School Program.
“The proposed project will increase safety for Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School students traveling to school by bike or by foot,” said Katelyn Digioia, Georgia DOT State Bicycle and Pedestrian Engineer, “and by developing facilities that safely accommodate our youngest road users safely, all members of the community will also be served.”
