Good Samaritan Gets Scammed in Candler Park
Atlanta Police working the case, warn: Don't be too nice

No one wants to be heartless, but scams, such as the one in Candler Park this week, can make all of us a little less likely to help.
Atlanta Police are investigating the incident and warn would-be Good Samaritans to take precaution if they come across someone on the street requesting aid.

She was driving down Euclid Avenue said she was flagged down Tuesday by an older man who said he needed a ride to Emory University Hospital to see his daughter, whom he said was hit by a drunk driver.
The man, described to as a clean-cut, black man in his 60s, said he tried to get help from people in the Flying Biscuit and Candler Park Market but his pleas were ignored.

She took him to the hospital, where they were met by a woman who was upset.
The Good Samaritan ended up withdrawing money from her account and gave it to the man, who said his daughter is an athlete at Georgia Tech.
He, in turn gave her a phone number but when she called it later, it turned out to be the number to a police officer in Cobb County.
