• Fulton County in review: Justice system hamstrings county finances (appenmedia.com) — Fulton County decisions in 2025 directly affected Johns Creek, especially through District 1 Commissioner Bridget Thorne, who represents most of the city east of GA 400. Residents should watch for a possible 2026 property tax rate increase, major spending on mandated jail upgrades, and new North Fulton health and human services facilities that Johns Creek residents will be able to use.
   

• Alpharetta in review: City ends 2025 with historic jail reopening (appenmedia.com) — Johns Creek residents arrested locally will again be held at the reopened Alpharetta Detention Center, which replaces the shuttered Fulton County North Annex Jail. Alpharetta invested $1.6 million and extensive renovations to operate the 72-bed facility, and is negotiating agreements with Johns Creek, Milton, and Roswell while also highlighting recent public safety leadership changes and 2025 city election results.
