City Councilman Only Candidate For Mayor, Will Take Seat
A Lawrenceville City Councilman was unopposed in qualifiers, so he's set to take the mayoral seat.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Lawrenceville Council Member David Still is set to become the city's next mayor after the municipal election qualifying period, reports say, because he's the only person who is running.
Nobody signed up to run against Still, leaving him as the only candidate to take over current mayor Judy Jordan Johnson's seat.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reported Still as saying the early selection gives him more time to make the transition smooth.

"I’ve got four months to do that with her and the city staff," he said in the Post, adding his acknowledgment that Johnson retains the position for the rest of the year.
Still's old position, Post 1 of the City Council, is now the goal of a contested election between Eric Hoskins, Glenn Martin and Austin Thompson, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
