Woman Accused of Assaulting Ex Tells Police, 'The Dog Did It'
After a domestic dispute between a man and his ex-wife, the woman told police that the dog was responsible for breaking several items in the Lawrenceville home.

A Lawrenceville woman gave police the oldest excuse in the book when she tried covering up a domestic dispute between her and her ex-husband: The dog did it.
According to the Gwinnett County Police report, an officer reported to the 900 block of Wenham Ln. on a call about two people fighting with knives. The officer first saw the man, 39, who was covered in several scratches and cuts.
He told police that he was fine, but he had been in an argument with his ex-wife. Police spoke with the woman, who also said everything was fine despite the blood found on her shirt.

When asked how they got there, she first said her dog was injured, but later changed her story to say that her hand was cut. She told police she didn't know how her ex was sliced.
The officer noticed a large kitchen knife on a table, a steak knife on the stairs, and several broken items such as a vase, broken candles and a utensils drawer scattered around the house.

The woman's response to the mess? "The dog did it," says the report.
The officer called her out and told her that he's worked several cases like this before and wanted the truth from her. All she would tell authorities was that she had an argument with her ex-husband.
The ex-husband was a little bit more helpful to police. He said she had held a knife to his chest and that was how he got cut. But when asked about the other cuts on the other parts of his body, he said he didn't know where those came from. He eventually followed his wife and only said that they got into an argument.
He also agreed to a written statement, but then backed out and said he didn't want to do it or press charges. Police could smell alcohol coming from his person.
Due to the evidence, police arrested and charged the ex-wife with aggravated assault. She was transported to the Gwinnett County jail.
