Man Wearing Just A Tablecloth Accused Of Stealing Cars In Gwinnett County

The 25-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police said he also tried to illegally enter several vehicles in Gwinnett County.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — Gwinnett County authorities have charged a man they say stole two cars and attempted to break into several others while wearing nothing but a tablecloth.

On Dec. 2, authorities received a report about a vehicle believed to have been stolen by 25-year-old Mackienzy Kahl, Gwinnett County police said in a statement released on Saturday.

Later that day, police said officers found the car but were unable to locate Kahl. Witnesses told authorities he had taken off on foot, and police said officers noticed signs that he may have been exposed to chemicals while inside the vehicle.

As officers searched for Kahl, police said multiple 911 calls came in reporting a man matching Kahl’s description running through the area wearing only a tablecloth and attempting to get into several vehicles.

At one point, police said Kahl entered an occupied home and took the keys to a Mercedes before driving off.

According to police, officers quickly located the car, conducted a traffic stop and safely took Kahl into custody.

Kahl was charged with theft by taking, first-degree burglary, entering a motor vehicle with intent to commit theft, loitering and prowling, and driving without a valid driver's license.

According to online records, Kahl was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail on Dec. 2, where he remained as of Saturday. His bond was set at $2,600.
