Murderer Nabbed Less Than 7 Hours After Warrant Issued: Police

The Fugitive Unit say they have arrested the man responsible for the fatal shooting of a Lawrenceville man Sunday.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – Gwinnett County Sheriff's Fugitive Unit had a killer in handcuffs less than seven hours after issuing an arrest warrant for the man, who police say, killed a Lawrenceville man during an altercation Sunday.

Marcus Harris, 24 was arrested Wednesday after fatally shooting Marlon Walker, 32, in the chest during an argument at an apartment complex, according to police.

"When our awesome Fugitive Unit received an arrest warrant from GCPD homicide investigators, the 24 year old suspect was in handcuffs less than seven hours later," reads a Facebook post from Gwinnett County Sheriff's office. "We call that outstanding service!"

"It is our hope that the arrest of Marcus will start to bring Marlon’s family some closure," said Police spokesperson Cpl. Michele Pihera.

Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene, despite officers rendering aid to Walker. At 2:30 a.m., Gwinnett County Police responded to a report of shots fired at 50 St. Marlowe Drive in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Witnesses told police there was a physical altercation between at least two men in the parking lot prior to the shooting. After the victim was shot, the suspect or suspects fled the scene.
