Scammers Use Fake ID, Victim Gets Their Cell Phone Bill: Police
Lawrenceville scammers used fake identification at Best Buy to order phone service until the victim got the bill.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – Lawrenceville scammers used fake identification at Best Buy to order phone service until the victim got the bill, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.
On June 30, 2018 two suspects entered the Best Buy on Pleasant Hill Road and fraudulently opened a cell phone account through Verizon Wireless. The suspects presented false identification documents to employees at Best Buy.
Upon receiving a bill in the mail, the victim notified law enforcement authorities of the fraud. The police investigators are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the couple. Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the our Tipline at 770-619-6655.
