Video: Car Races At Full Speed Before Crashing Into Gas Station

Security cameras captured a car racing at full speed, narrowly avoiding the gas tanks, and crashing into a gas station, killing the driver.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA – A 55-year-old driver is dead and a woman was injured after a car raced towards a Lawrenceville gas station convenience store Monday, narrowly avoiding the gas tanks, and crashing into the building.

Surveillance video shows the car racing at full speed through the parking lot of the Exxon station, located at 1184 Lawrenceville Highway, traveling an estimated 60-70 miles per hour. The vehicle rolled onto its side and smashed into the store’s front. First responders found a pedestrian seriously injured and the driver of the vehicle unresponsive, Lt. J. O. Parker, Lawrenceville Police, told Patch.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; and the driver was determined to be dead, Parker said.

Entrance to the area was restricted by Gwinnett County Fire Services due to fuel leaking from the vehicle that was still resting partially in the store. The Gwinnett Medical Examiner’s Office and Lawrenceville Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit investigators are handling the investigation and are awaiting the results of the Medical Examiner to determine how the collision occurred.
