First Loganville Summer Concert on the Town Green Scheduled for Aug. 16

Loganville's own Critical Velocity will kick off Groovin on the Green, the first summer concert series planned for the city's Ray Nunley Pavilion.

The complete vision of the late Ray Nunley, former mayor of Loganville, is about to come to fruition. Following the dedication of the Ray Nunley Pavilion at the opening of the new Town Green in Loganville on July 3, the first of the summer concert series has now been scheduled.

Critical Velocity will kick off the Groovin on the Green summer concert series from 7 to 10 p.m. on Aug. 16.  This will be followed on Sept. 20 with the Sock Hops and Oct. 19, at the close of the Autumn Heritage Festival, with Funky Bluester.

“We’ve scheduled our concerts in between the ones in Monroe,” Loganville City Manager Bill Jones said. “They have theirs on the first Friday and ours is the third Friday.”

However, two of the concerts in Monroe have been rained out so there will be a duplication because of make up concerts. The Jagged Stones will be performing in Monroe on Aug. 16.

The Town Green had been a vision of Nunley's that he had manage to see almost come to fruition before his death from cancer in April this year. Nunley had stepped down the month before, but had stayed involved with the construction right up to the end. He wanted to have concerts in Loganville along the same lines as the First Friday Summer Concert Series in Monroe.

Jones said Movies on Main also are planned for the new Town Green.
