- Police in Covington continue to investigate a brutal assault on Cricket Frog Trail. On Sep. 26, the victim was walking with her dog when she was accosted by two men who beat her and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was able to attract the attention of people nearby who took her to the hospital. The investigation into the identities of the two men is ongoing. The victim's dog was unharmed during the attack. (Subscription: Covington News)
- The City of Loganville and the Masters Car Club are partnering to bring the third annual Back the Blue Car Show, which will be in town on Saturday, Oct. 8. The event will include vendors on site plus door prizes, music, and a raffle. Registration is from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and awards will be presented at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the car show will benefit the Loganville Police Department and other first responders. (Your Local News)
- A 306-unit luxury apartment project has begun in Gwinnett County. Developers have broken ground on the massive project, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023. Developers recently broke ground on a 306-unit luxury apartment project in Gwinnett County. The luxury residential apartments are being built in Sugar Hill. (Patch)
- The Walnut Grove Public Library has released its event calendar for the month of October, and there are tons of activities and events for people of all ages. There's a Family Lego Afternoon event on Oct. 12 and, for animal lovers, a Halloweenie Storytime on Oct. 29 featuring two lovable dogs. - A multi-vehicle accident in Walton County shut down Highway 81 and caused major traffic for drivers. On Monday afternoon, officers were called to the area between Bold Springs Road and Double Springs Road, where the massive accident had left some trapped in their vehicles. The roads have since been cleared, although traffic remained congested for several hours. There is no information yet on what caused the accident or if there were any injuries.
