Here are the top five stories in Loganville-Grayson today:

  1. The Gwinnett County Police Department released the identity of the Macy's employee who was stabbed at the retail chain's Mall of Georgia store on Friday, Sep. 2. Lawrenceville resident David Walker, 55, was stabbed by Loganville resident Jose Reyes-Serrato, 27, after Walker tried to stop him from smashing jewelry cases. Police chased Reyes-Serrato and shot him at least once. As of Sep. 7, both the victim and the suspect are at a local hospital and are expected to survive, according to Cpl. William Wolf. (Gwinnett Daily Post)
  2. According to the Gwinnett Coalition, Gwinnett County has more than 170,000 residents who are believed to either have no insurance or have inadequate health insurance. The Gwinnett Coalition and GNR Public Health have partnered to create Gwinnett Health Finder, a website where uninsured or underinsured residents can go to find health care providers.   3. Many Georgia voters won't recognize the candidates running to be the commissioner of Agriculture, Insurance and Fire Safety, or Labor at the Nov. 8 midterm election. None of the candidates in those races have ever won a statewide race. For example, Agriculture commissioner candidate Nakita Hemingway is a cut flower grower in Gwinnett County who also sells real estate.
