Road Work, DDA Appointments: Grayson City Council Meeting Recap

The council and mayor met with for a work session and regular monthly meeting Monday.

The Grayson City Council and mayor held its monthly meeting Monday (Oct. 21). 

Here's a recap of the evening: 

-The city council voted 4-0 to extend the Grayson Farmers Market to be year-round. Read the full story here.

-The council also passed the last-minute addition of a construction contract between Tri Scapes Inc. and the city of Grayson for the Georgia Department of Transportation regarding the Transportation Enhancement Grant. City Planner Steve Sappington said there's nothing new in the costs or plans, but GDOT has changed its policy and the new contract needs to be signed in order to continue work. Construction includes the streetlights at Rosebud Road and I-20. 

-The council also approved the purchase of space for a quarter-page advertisement for the Gwinnett Newcomers Guide with the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

-Chip Mitchell and Josh Chastain, two board members of the Downtown Development Authority, were unanimously approved to be reappointed.

-An amendment to the Grayson Zoning Ordinance was passed. The revision changes roof requirements, now allowing residential roofs to be less steep than the ordinance previously stated. 

-An update to the city's five-year Short-Term Work Program was approved by the city council and will go to the Atlanta Regional Commission for approval.

-The city's lease on its copy machine was approved to be renewed.
