- Popular restaurant franchise Rock N Roll Sushi is scouting locations in Gwinnett County! A location has already been planned for Alpharetta, but franchises are in the works for Gwinnett, Hall, Cumming, Sugar Hill/Suwanee, Buford, and Lawrenceville. The Alpharetta location is scheduled to open in November. (What Now Atlanta)
- Peachtree Corners residents will soon be able to assess the pavement infrastructure of their town in an accurate and objective manner. City officials are attempting to optimize dedicated infrastructure management funds. Infrastructure Management Services have been contracted to conduct the pavement survey and provide a budget and rehabilitation plan. Should this prove effective, this program could be used in other towns in Gwinnett County. (Gwinnett Citizen)
- A Buford cabinet shop was damaged in a fire on Thursday evening. Stone Creek Cabinetry & Millworks on Tuggle Greer Drive began burning around 6:30 p.m. Workers reported hearing a loud boom around that time. The building was vacant at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported. Police are investigating the cause of the fire. (WSB Atlanta)
- A Walton County car accident has left one person dead. Daniel Sweat of Oxford, Georgia was crossing the street when he was struck by a speeding truck. The accident occurred on State Route 81. Police have not identified the driver or stated whether he will be charged with a crime. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- A family from Gwinnett County was randomly attacked by a man with a knife outside of a Motel 6 in Norcross. A young mother and her five-year-old child were exiting her car when a woman came up to them and began stabbing the young woman with a steak knife. The victim's mother heard the commotion and managed to pull off the attacker, saving her daughter and grandchild. 32-year-old Filiz Flood was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and child cruelty. It is currently unclear why the family was attacked. The victim survived but will reportedly need reconstructive surgery from where she was stabbed in the face and eyelids. (WSB Atlanta)
