SAT Scores Released for Grayson, South Gwinnett Students

South Gwinnett High's average scores increased from last year while Grayson saw a decrease in scores.

SAT results are out for schools across the state of Georgia, and once again Gwinnett County students topped state and national averages. 

Here are some quick Gwinnett County Public School highlights, from the district:

  • Gwinnett’s average composite score on the SAT is 1513, a combination of the average critical reading score of 505, the average mathematics score of 518, and the average writing score of 490. (The highest possible composite score is 2400.)
  • Gwinnett’s total SAT average is 15 points above the national average of 1498.
  • Gwinnett’s average is 61 points above the Georgia average of 1452.
  • Over the past three years, GCPS has experienced a 28 percent increase in SAT participation.

Here's how Grayson and South Gwinnett students did. (Possible scores range from 200 to 800 on each section.):

Grayson High School:

2013: Reading -- 494, Math -- 497, Writing -- 479, Total -- 1470
2012: Reading -- 496, Math -- 510, Writing -- 489, Total -- 1495

South Gwinnett High School:

2013: Reading -- 461, Math -- 457, Writing -- 439, Total -- 1357
2012: Reading -- 450, Math -- 450, Writing -- 439, Total -- 1339
