Decomposing Body Found In Chimney ID'd As Missing GA Man: Report

The body of the 43-year-old man, who had been missing since Dec. 28, was reportedly found by his roommate.

MACON, GA — The body of a Georgia man who was reported missing New Year's Day was found by the man's roommate decomposing in the chimney of a Courtland Avenue home, USA Today reported Monday.

Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones identified the body as Anthony Rumplik, 43, the outlet reported. A cause and manner of death weren't immediately known.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said it responded around 9 p.m. Friday to a death investigation at the home, where the Bibb County Fire Department also responded to help with removing the body from the chimney.

USA Today reported fire crews had to dismantle the chimney to remove Rumplik's body, which was stuck in the chimney.

Rumplik was last seen by his family Dec. 28 in the 2200 block of Courtland, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said.
