Macon business owners call for action on abandoned Pio Nono Avenue building (41nbc.com) — Business owners along Pio Nono Avenue in Macon are demanding action on a long-abandoned former Anderson Diner building they say is filled with trash and attracting unsafe conditions. After their complaints and a viral Facebook post, Macon-Bibb officials say Code Enforcement is working with the property owner to get the site cleaned up, as neighbors push for equal attention to this corridor.
   

2. Macon-Bibb leaders say hotel purchase will lead to downtown growth (13wmaz.com) — Macon-Bibb leaders just approved an option to buy the Macon Marriott City Center and Edgar H. Wilson Convention Center, giving the Urban Development Authority potential full control of the site. If finalized, the $13 million deal would let local officials choose new operators or run the facilities themselves, tying directly into major redevelopment and a new arena planned for Macon’s east side.
   

3. Eight Georgia volunteers head west to help with Washington flood relief (41nbc.com) — Macon-based Red Cross volunteers are heading to western Washington to support communities hit hard by catastrophic flooding, providing shelter, food, and emotional support. The Red Cross of Georgia says more than 250 volunteers are already on the ground, and they’re ready to send more. Local residents can help by donating or signing up to volunteer from right here in Macon.
   

4. 41NBC partners with Salvation Army to help distribute Angel Tree gifts to Middle Georgia families (41nbc.com) — Families in Macon and across Middle Georgia are receiving Christmas gifts this week through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, which 41NBC helped support. With a main tree at The Shoppes at River Crossing, donations from local shoppers and volunteers are providing presents for 742 children in 274 families. Residents can still help through online monetary contributions.
   

5. Holidays bring times of celebration — and an onslaught of scams. The FBI has these tips for keeping yourself safe (13wmaz.com) — From Macon, the FBI is warning Georgians about a surge in holiday scams and sharing practical ways to protect your money and personal information. Agents urge you to be wary of promoted links, spoofed caller IDs, and requests for multi-factor authentication codes. They’re also encouraging families to use the FBI’s “Holiday Talk” resources to discuss scam prevention together.
