Ex-UGA Player Convicted In Fatal Oconee Armed Robbery: Reports

Ahkil Crumpton​​, 26, is facing up to 20 years for an attempted robbery charge and 10 years for a firearm charge, a media report says.

WATKINSVILLE, GA —Former University of Georgia football player Ahkil Crumpton, 26, was convicted Wednesday in a federal court in connection with the shooting death of an Oconee County gas station clerk during a March 2021 armed robbery, according to media reports.

WGXA News reported the former wide receiver was found guilty of attempted robbery and making false statements in buying the gun reportedly used in the killing.

Crumpton could serve up to 20 years for the attempted robbery charge and 10 years for the firearm charge, the outlet reported.

Fox 5 Atlanta reported Crumpton had a Glock 9 mm pistol when he entered the Macon Highway gas station "intending to rob it." During the attempted robbery, Crumpton was accused of shooting and killing 23-year-old Elijah Wood, a gas station staffer.

According to his UGA profile, Crumpton is a Philadelphia native who was on the university's 2018 football roster. He has also played for Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt University.
