Two Douglasville residents were involved in a single-vehicle car accident on Pat Mell Road in Marietta, just after midnight Monday.

MARIETTA, GA — Two Douglasville residents were involved in a car accident in Cobb County just after midnight Monday.

Katherine Garcia, 26, was driving a black 2009 Toyota Corolla westbound on Pat Mell Road toward Lorene Drive, Cobb police said. She had 18-year-old Judith Monroy in the car with her.

Police investigators said for an unknown reason, Garcia suddenly swerved off the road, hit a curb and the car became airborne. It landed back in the road and collided with a concrete curb, causing the Corolla to roll off the road again before striking a tree behind the Save & Go Food Mart nearby.
