2 Arrested After Attempted Burglary, SWAT Standoff Outside Marietta Home: Police

Marietta police said the homeowners were away when two men broke into a Marietta home and attempted to rob them.

MARIETTA, GA — Two men were arrested after an attempted burglary and SWAT standoff outside a Marietta home in the early morning hours Wednesday.

Officers were dispatched to a home on Birney Street at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday after a neighbor saw someone crawl through one of the windows of the home. When officers arrived, they saw someone moving around inside, a spokesperson for the Marietta Police Department said in a news release.

After contacting the homeowners, police confirmed they were not home and no one should be inside. The suspect did not comply with officers on scene, which prompted the SWAT team to be activated.
