Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. The director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been appointed as a judge of the Cobb County Superior Court. Vic Reynolds will now leave his position with GBI after serving in his director position since February 2019. He was appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp along with Julie Adams Jacobs as the two newest judges on the County's Superior Court bench. (US News And World Report)
  2. The Cobb County Police Department arrested a man for allegedly killing his mother, stepfather, and cousin in the Austell suburb. Marcus Smith, 37, reportedly killed the family members during a domestic dispute. Smith was arrested by department officers on a street near the family home and will be held in jail without bail. (WJCL)
  3. A Cobb County man broke out of handcuffs and escaped police custody at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. Ulysses Andre Roberson, 37, was being treated for gunshot wounds and had been charged with possessing a distribution level quantity of crack cocaine. He was eventually arrested again at a Super 8 motel on Franklin Gateway. (Marietta Patch)
