Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. The Cobb County Planning Commission has delayed a decision on an application that would build 32 townhomes. The project would build the community on Wade Green Road north of Wooten Lake Road. The delay is reportedly a chance to allow the applicant and the community to meet. (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Free food is being offered to Cobb County children at three libraries. The food is provided by Happy Helpings - the state's summer food service program. The food is distributed at Charles D. Switzer Library in Marietta on Tuesdays, South Cobb Regional Library in Mableton on Wednesdays, and North Cobb Regional Library in Kennesaw on Thursdays. The program runs until the end of July. The distribution is a drive-through service and offers packages of 14 meals. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. A woman was seriously injured near Marietta Square while crossing North Marietta Parkway. She reportedly darted into the path of a Mitsubishi Mirage. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with Marietta Police Department investigators. The woman is being treated at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
