Actor From Marietta Selected To Participate In CBS Diversity Initiative

Only 12 were selected from a nationwide pool of 10,000 people, the network announced Monday.

A Marietta native has been chosen as one of 12 participants in the Drama Diversity Casting Initiative, CBS announced Monday.

Noel Braham, who graduated from Sprayberry High School in the Cobb County School District, was selected from a list of more than 10,000 submissions and 450 call-backs, the network said, according to Deadline.com.

The Drama Diversity Casting Initiative is the network's bid to promote inclusiveness by drawing talent from underrepresented groups.

The 12 winners were reportedly flown to Los Angeles for a screen test for some of CBS' on-air series as well as pilots in the works.

Braham has been cast in several plays in Marietta, including "Charlotte's Web" and "Othello," according to his page on talent resource website Backstage.com.

“The response to this initiative was incredible and we look forward to working with these talented actors from across the country on their respective screen tests. We are hopeful this opportunity will serve as a launching pad for their careers on CBS and within the industry,” Glenn Geller, CBS president, said in a statement, according to Deadline.com.

CBS has had a number of shows produced in Atlanta. The reboot of "McGyver" stars Lucas Till, a graduate of Marietta's Kell High School. "Hunted," which is about a group of participants that go on a nationwide manhunt, was shot in the city last summer but has yet to air.
