No. 6: Cobb grapples with homelessness (macon.com) — Marietta residents are seeing homelessness become more visible, especially around Bells Ferry Road, as local schools report hundreds of homeless students and the city tightens camping and disorderly conduct ordinances. County leaders, nonprofits, and volunteers are debating enforcement versus housing solutions, while projects like Emmanuel’s Village and expanded MUST Ministries services aim to support homeless families and veterans.
   

2. Shots fired at metro Atlanta movie theater (wsbtv.com) — Marietta families heading to the NCG Cinema on Powder Springs Street found its front entrance partially boarded up after someone fired multiple shots at the building and a parked car Tuesday night. No injuries were reported, but witnesses were interviewed and police are still searching for the gunman, raising safety concerns for local moviegoers.
   

3. Dekalb police officer on administrative leave after fatal pedestrian accident in Cobb County (cobbcountycourier.com) — A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night on I-75 near Terrell Mill Road in Cobb County by a marked DeKalb County Police SUV driven by an off-duty officer, who was uninjured. The officer is now on administrative leave while Cobb’s STEP Unit investigates the fatal crash, and authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
   

4. ‘I think he's a huge get' – Tennessee beat out Texas for an elite recruit with game-changing talent (atozsports.com) — A standout football recruit from Marietta, four-star linebacker Brayden Rouse of Kell High School, has signed with the University of Tennessee for its highly ranked 2026 class. Analysts say Tennessee beat a strong late push from Texas and view Rouse as a versatile, high-upside defender with long-term NFL potential who could play a major role for the Vols’ defense.
