Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:

  1. Oppenheimer & Co. has been ordered to pay nearly $37 million in damages to investors. The New York-based brokerage and investment bank was under the control of Marietta's John Woods. The Ponzi scheme was allegedly worth $110 million. (Insurance Newsnet)
  2. Cobb County's Board of Education will be required to crack down on individuals disrupting meetings. The board has until Oct. 1 to comply with Senate Bill 588. The board's new policy will prohibit abusive or offensive language, blocking individuals' entrance or exit, threats, disruptive noises, and any other action meant to disrupt a meeting. Violators will be removed from the meeting and the meeting will be paused until the disruptions are ended. (Axios)
  3. The Marietta History Center will be hosting the "On Doing History" program on Oct. 1 at 2:00 p.m. Participants will hear from individuals working in the field of history and will be allowed to ask questions. There is a $10 fee for not-yet-members of the Museum. (City of Marietta)
