Cobb County Events: Bowie Tribute Night, CSI For Kids

Also: commission meetings, movie series for kids, cooking classes, more.

COBB COUNTY, GA — The Cobb County government sends out regular updates of local events and meetings. There's something going on nearly daily through June 8 — everything from commission meetings to jazz shows, and cooking classes to David Bowie cover nights.

Here's what the county has going on in the next week and a half, as obtained from the release:

May 28 – Board of Commissioners regular meeting. 7 p.m. BOC Room, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

May 29 – Kaiser Permanente Free Summer Movie Series kickoff, featuring a screening of Disney Pixar's "Incredibles 2." Starts at 7:30 p.m.; movies plays at dusk. 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton.

May 30 – Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's: What You Need to Know presentation by Dr. Monica W. Parker. 11 a.m. South Cobb Regional Library, 805 Clay Road, Mableton. Free and open to the public. For more information, click here or call 678-398-5828.

June 1 – An Evening of Jazz featuring Will Downing, Norman Brown, Lindsey Webster and Mike Phillips. 7 p.m.; movies plays at dusk. 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton. Tickets start at $46 and are available at ticketmaster.com.

June 3– CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Gritters Library. 9 a.m.-noon. For ages 11 and older. Gritters Library, 880 Shaw Park Road, Marietta.

June 4 – Planning Commission zoning hearing. 9 a.m. BOC Room, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta.

June 5 – Family Fun Safety Day. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Cobb County Safety Village, 1220 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta. $5 per person; $20 per family maximum.

June 7 – Movies, Bands and Brews, featuring the David Bowie cover band Jerome Newton and the Band Who Fell to Earth and a screening of "Labyrinth." Band performs at 7 p.m.; movies plays at dusk. 5239 Floyd Road, Mableton. Tables directly in front of the stage that seat six available for $72. All other seating free and open to public.

June 8 – From Seed to Table: Cooking with Superfoods class series. 11 a.m.-noon. Hyde Farm, 721 Hyde Road, Marietta. Cooking class on how to grow, harvest, cook and preserve food from your garden. RSVP to 770-528-4070.

June 8 – Magical Morning in the Garden Celebrating Mothers event. 10 a.m.-noon. 3550 Knights Road, Marietta. Enjoy tea, refreshments, music and nature. Seating is limited and the cost is $25 per ticket. Purchase tickets by calling 770-528-4070.
