Cobb Opens Middle, High School Online Learning Registration

Beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, Cobb Schools middle and high school students can start registering for the new Cobb Online Learning Academy.

COBB COUNTY, GA — Cobb County School District families can begin registering their middle and high school students for the new Cobb Online Learning Academy for the 2021-22 school year, the district said Monday.

Last week, Cobb Schools announced that the district would continue offering virtual schooling in various options for the next academic year.

Now, beginning at 5 p.m. Monday, Cobb Schools families with middle or high school students interested in full-time online learning can register their choice online. The registration window is open for rising sixth through 12th graders from March 22 until April 2.

"There are students and teachers who are thriving in the online learning environment. So, it is incumbent to us to provide the opportunities that allow each student to succeed," Ragsdale said in a press release last week. "Although we are anticipating that most Cobb students will return to face-to-face in August, online learning will continue to be an option for Cobb students and families for the long-term."

The current registration window does not apply for students interested in part-time online learning or elementary students interested in full-time online learning, according to a district press release Monday.

Families with younger students will be able to register their elementary students for the district's online learning option anytime between April 19 and May 2. Middle and high school students who want to do part-time online learning can register through Cobb Virtual Academy.

High school students interested in alternative, full-time blended learning can register through Cobb Horizon School during that time.

Only families who want to opt-in for online learning need to register. If families do not opt in for online learning, students will be automatically enrolled in face-to-face learning for the 2021-22 school year.

To get started, families can log in to ParentVUE and look for the "online learning opt-in" button in the left column, the release said.
