Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. Cobb County commissioners are considering a proposal that would establish four residential zones for sanitation. The proposal would allow Cobb County to choose multiple service providers to service unincorporated parts of the county. The services would be paid through property tax bills. The commission is considering other funding methods as well. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  2. The Cobb County Superior Court was observed by six trial judges from the nation of Georgia last week. The delegation observed jury trials and analyzed the judicial process. This is a continuation of a program that was first established in 2017 promoting transparency and independence in the Georgian judiciary. Several days of a murder trial were observed during this visit. (Cobb County Courier)
  3. The Cobb Chamber's Cobb Executive Women will be hosting a luncheon to discuss COVID-19 impacts on the student achievement gap. The Sep. 9 luncheon will feature Kennesaw State University professors Megan Adams and Dr. Sanjuana Rodriguez. Post-pandemic literacy trends and possible solutions will be explored during the luncheon. Click to register for the event that will be held at the chamber between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. (Cobb County Courier)
