Deadly Crash Closes I-75 In Cobb For Hours

The multi-vehicle crash happened on I-75 southbound at North Marietta Parkway Wednesday morning.

MARIETTA, GA -- Portions of I-75 south were closed for hours Wednesday morning after a deadly crash at North Marietta Parkway. Police said a black 2008 Infinity G37 and a silver 2010 Chevy Silverado collided, causing both vehicles to lose control. The Silverado stuck the guard rail and then deflected back into the roadway where it was struck by two passing semi tractor-trailers.

The pick-up truck caught on fire and at some point during the multiple collisions, the right rear passenger was ejected. The man, identified only as a 54-year-old male who lived in metro Atlanta, did not survive.

Police said all parties are cooperating with the investigation as well as a few witnesses. No one else was transported by ambulance. The highway remained closed for several hours due to the size and scope of the crash. Fluids from the vehicles covered all lanes of I-75 south and had to be cleared before the road could be reopened.
