“This Defendant had a previous felony conviction for violently assaulting another person, and he executed ‘Andre’ Campbell out of greed and in anger,” Chief Assistant District Attorney Jesse Evans said.
The two friends had stolen a tractor-trailer with furniture belonging to Patterson's father inside of it. As the days went by, the two disagreed on what should be done with the items, according to District Attorney Vic Reynolds.
One day, Patterson, Campbell and a 16-year-old girl pulled up outside Campbell's apartment on Mulkey Road in Marietta. While Patterson and Campbell went inside, the girl waited outside.
Inside the apartment, a confrontation arose and Patterson pulled out a .45-caliber handgun, shooting Campbell three times in the torso, the DA said.
Patterson and the girl were briefly fugitives, driving to Miami before they were apprehended by U.S. Marshals.
Patterson was represented by Atlanta attorney Tanya Miller, the DA said.
