Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- Two individuals have been indicted by a grand jury for the Apr. 5 shooting at DosBros Fresh Mexican Grill in Cobb County. Terrence Jamal Speer and Antoine Bernard Malone have been accused of fatally shooting Shalik Burkhead during the incident. They have been indicted on felony murder charges along with aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The Cobb Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs is offering residents the opportunity to play some free spikeball every Wednesday. The free pickup games will be held at Terrell Mill Park in Marietta from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. There will be spikeball sets provided but residents are encouraged to bring their own. - According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, COVID-19 transmission is rising among students. The disease is being transmitted among students of all ages throughout Cobb County. According to the department, 153 Cobb County children between the ages of zero and four got COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Cobb County children between five and 17 saw 232 cases during the last two weeks. (Cobb County Courier)
