Gunman Surrenders After Hours-Long Cobb SWAT Standoff

SWAT teams surrounded a Texaco on Riverside Drive, which is located off I-20 near Six Flags in Austell.

AUSTELL, GA -- An hours-long SWAT standoff on Saturday evening in Cobb County ended when a gunman inside an Austell gas station surrendered. Police said the incident took place at a Texaco on Riverside Drive off I-20 near Six Flags. The suspect, identified as Marcus Golphin, 26, surrendered around 6 pm.

Golphin was allegedly inside the station for several hours, but did not hold anyone hostage. No one was injured during the standoff.

Golphin was arrested and taken into custody. He now faces charges of obstruction of a police officer, false imprisonment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
