Marietta Teen Mom Charged In Infant's Death

The 17-year-old mother is being treated in a local hospital and will be booked into a Cobb County jail once released, police say.

MARIETTA, GA — A teenage Marietta mother is facing charges in connection with the death of her infant Sunday in the 80 block of Gramling Street, Marietta Police said.

Officers responded around 3 p.m. to the home. Police did not identify the infant or release a cause or manner of death.

However, police said Monday that Leticia Rodriguez, 17, was arrested and was charged on suspicion of abuse of a dead body, concealing a death and abandonment of a dead body, police said.

Rodriguez is currently being treated at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for an unknown cause, police said. Once released, police said she would be booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, where she would be held without bond.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s office is assisting with the investigation.
