Live Hand Grenade, $1M Worth Of Drugs Seized In Major GA Bust

Ten people were arrested after GA authorities say they seized a live hand grenade, $250,000, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, guns and pills.

More than $1 million worth of narcotics, a live hand grenade and 71 guns were seized during a metro Atlanta joint task force operation that resulted in 10 arrests this week, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday.

The operation was held Tuesday and targeted Paulding, Cobb, Haralson, Carroll and Douglas counties in Georgia, the GBI said.

The GBI's Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force partnered with the FBI's Atlanta and Cartersville offices to execute multiple search warrants.

Authorities said they uncovered about 8.2 kilos of suspected fentanyl, 3 ounces of suspected heroin, 3 ounces of cocaine, at least 10,000 suspected schedule I and schedule II pills, 71 firearms, a live hand grenade and about $250,000 - all seized. The seized drugs had a street value of "well over" $1 million, the GBI said.

Names and ages of the arrestees were not released.

Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be given to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Georgia.
