Man Killed For $5 Costume Jewelry in Marietta Parking Lot, Says Victim's Wife
Couple was leaving a restaurant Friday night when reportedly approached by armed robber. Both were shot before shooter fled.

MARIETTA, GA — A Kennesaw woman says she was shot and her husband was killed over a necklace described as $5 costume jewelry.
According to Cobb police, Anthony and Cynthia Welch, both 48, were walking to their car in the parking lot of Pappadeaux, located on Windy Hill Road, when they were approached by a man. After shooting the couple, the suspect fled the area on foot.
Both victims were transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where Anthony Welch was pronounced dead on arrival.

Cynthia Welch says that the man jumped out from between cars and grabbed at her necklace, according to WSB-TV.
“He ripped it and you can see the scratches. I think I went to shield myself and he just shot me and that's when it went through here and then lodged in my breast,” Welch said. She was not seriously injured, but the bullet will have to be surgically removed.

“Once he shot me, I looked down and my husband was on the ground and he took off running,” Welch told WSB.
