Marietta Children Get to 'Shop With a Cop'
Police force shows the holiday spirit by giving back to the community's needy.
MARIETTA, GA -- There were two distinct types of shoppers recently at a Walmart in Marietta: One had badges, the other had bags.
Seven students chosen by school administrators went on a holiday shopping spree with Marietta police officers in tow.
The kids got to load up on goodies as part of the city's "Shop with a Cop" event. The act of kindness by the force was actually facilitated by Marietta residents, police said.

"While shopping this year, multiple citizens approached officers and wanted to show support by giving money," Marietta police said in a news release. "The donations ranged anywhere from $5.00 to $100.00 and totaled up to $250.00. With these financial donations, MPD was able to help the children pick out items that they needed for Christmas."
Pictures on Facebook showed smiling faces of children as they grabbed toys and other items. Police said some of the children purchased necessities at the Dec. 19 event, while others bought things for family members in need as well.
