Marietta Firefighter Funeral Tuesday
Marietta Fire Fighter Engineer Lonnie Nutt died Thursday, after collapsing during a call to an automobile accident on Whitlock Avenue. Nutt's visitation and funeral will be held at the Roswell Street Baptist Church.

Nutt is believed to have been the first Marietta firefighter to die in the line of duty, according to The Marietta Daily Journal.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Roswell Street Baptist Church.

A procession to Kennesaw Memorial on Whitlock Avenue will follow the Tuesday service, Marietta Police Public Information Officer David Baldwin said.
Nutt began his career with the City of Marietta in May of 1994. He has served Marietta as a firefighter, inspector, investigator and currently fire engineer.

Nutt was originally from Oklahoma. He lived in Kennesaw with his wife, and he has a daughter in her 20s who lives outside Georgia, according to The Marietta Daily Journal and the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
