Marietta PAL After-School Program Accepting New Students
The fall session of the Marietta Police Athletic League's After-School, Dance, Martial Arts and Boxing programs are accepting new students.
MARIETTA, GA — If you're looking for something for your child to do after school this fall, Marietta Police Department may be able to help.
Marietta Police Athletic League's after-school programs start Aug. 9, and are accepting registrations for daily After-School, Dance, Martial Arts and Boxing. All PAL programs are held at the Hugh L. Grogan Jr. Community Center, located at 510 Lawrence St. in Marietta.
Registration fees are free to city of Marietta residents who qualify based on income, or just $50 per child for the fall session (August through December), and $50 again for the winter/spring session (January through May).

Here's a brief look at each program:
- The PAL After-School program serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and includes daily homework help, tutoring, sports, and health & fitness. Transportation from some Marietta City Schools campuses to the PAL After-School program may be available. Please call 770-794-5425 for more information regarding transportation.
- PAL Dance Classes are offered in partnership with Divine Dance Studio. Dance instructors provide instruction in jazz, ballet and hip-hop. Registration for dance is open to boys and girls ages 5-17. Dance classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m.
- PAL Martial Arts Classes, led by Sensei Don Bourgeois, are open to boys and girls ages 5-17. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. There is an additional cost for the purchase of PAL Martial Arts uniforms and equipment.
- PAL Boxing, an official USA Boxing club, is open to girls and boys ages 12-17. PAL Boxing is led by certified USA Boxing referee and veteran coach Herbert Van Dorn. Boxing classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. Prior to sparring, each boxer must provide proof of completed medical evaluation and register with USA Boxing at an additional cost of $85 per year.
