Marietta Shooting Kills Man Near Local Restaurant

MARIETTA, GA — A man was shot to death around midnight Friday in the 600 block of Franklin Gateway, Marietta Police said.

Police said the incident began at a nearby restaurant and spilled over into the parking lot and roadway.

When officers arrived, they found a man with a single gunshot wound lying down in the northbound lane of Franklin Gateway, police said. First responders tried to render aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The man was not identified, pending next-of-kin notification.

The motive in the fatal shooting is unknown, and police did not identify a suspect.
