Marietta Teen Killed In Head-On Collision

The crash, which injured two other people, happened early on Sunday morning in Cobb County.

MARIETTA, GA -- A Marietta teenager was killed in a head-on collision early Sunday morning. The crash happened around 4 am on Church Road near Landmark Drive when a black 1998 Honda Civic was traveling east on Church Road between Landmark Drive and Foxwood Trail. A green 1997 Ford Explorer was traveling west on Church Road.

The Honda crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the Ford head-on in the westbound lane. After the collision, the Honda caught fire. Bystanders were able to pull the passenger in the Honda before it became fully engulfed but they were unable to rescue the driver.

The driver of the Honda, 18-year-old Jail Garcia of Marietta, was pronounced deceased on scene. The passenger of the Honda, 18-year-old Leslie Jimenez of Marietta, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries that are not life threatening. The driver of the Ford, 53-year-old Charles Stancil of Lithia Springs, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries that are not life threatening.
