Asian-American Economist Enters 6th District Race

Dr. Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan is running on a platform of promoting small business, education & prosperity for all.

MARIETTA, GA – An Asian-American economist has entered the race to fill Georgia's 6th Congressional District seat, which has been vacated by Tom Price, the Trump Administration's new health secretary.

Dr. Mohammad Ali Bhuiyan announced Monday that he officially qualified with the Secretary of State to enter the crowded race.

Bhuiyan is running on a platform of promoting small business, education & prosperity for all. He brings to the table decades of experience in business and academia. He has studied at Harvard University and MIT and earned a Ph.D in economics and trade, along with two MBA degrees.

As the first Muslim Republican candidate for the House of Representatives, Bhuiyan stresses that his background uniquely qualifies him to tackle the government's "out of control" spending.

“Washington has become a center of power to serve and protect special interest groups and is no longer good for ordinary citizens,” he said in a statement. “We all need to get involved, say ‘No to this broken system and send an honest and experienced business/education leader to work for ordinary citizens.”

Bhuiyan emigrated from Bangladesh in 1986, becoming a U.S. citizen, along with his wife, in 2000.

He would represent the strongly Republican north Atlanta district, which includes East Cobb, north Fulton County and a swath of north DeKalb County.
