Here are the top three stories in Marietta today:
- The Marietta Police Department has a new chief. Interim Chief Marty Ferrell was sworn into the permanent position on Wednesday after being recommended by the City Manager last month. Chief Ferrell stated during his speech on Wednesday that he hopes to partner with the community to enhance the quality of life within Marietta. The city interviewed six candidates for the position. - The Marietta Cobb Museum is opening a new group exhibit. The "More Than Dream: Exploring the Surreal in Art" exhibit opens on Sep. 24. The exhibit will be on display in the Main Galleries through Dec. 18. The exhibit features artwork from six artists. (City of Marietta)
- The Cobb Chamber has announced a series of events through its Give Our Schools A Hand campaign. The first event will be a Handprint Unveiling Ceremony on Oct. 6 at The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre. The event will unveil the handprints of system-wide Teachers of the Year.
