Marietta Steakhouse Fails Health Inspection (thegeorgiasun.com) — Mac’s Chophouse on North Park Square in downtown Marietta recently failed a Cobb County health inspection with a score of 64, including two priority violations tied to food safety. Inspectors cited issues like improper handwashing, blocked hand sinks, temperature problems, and an expired food safety manager certificate, though most violations were corrected on-site and the restaurant remains open under closer follow-up scrutiny.
   

2. Man stabbed to death at Marietta apartment complex, suspect arrested, police say (atlantanewsfirst.com) — A man was fatally stabbed at the Midwood Creek apartments on Pat Mell Road in Marietta on New Year’s Day, and Cobb County police have arrested a local suspect. The victim, 47-year-old Jerry Sampson Jr. of Marietta, died after being taken to the hospital. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Major Crimes Unit as the investigation continues.
   

3. 4 popular Atlanta restaurants closing by management group (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Residents near East Cobb should know that Tin Lizzy’s East Cobb in unincorporated Marietta is among four Atlanta-area restaurants the Southern Proper Hospitality Group is closing. The group hasn’t said exactly when doors will shut or why, but notes economic pressures on the restaurant industry while keeping several other metro locations open.
