Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:
- Cobb County Board of Commissioners has approved of a pay raise for county employees. The county's new minimum wage for its employees is $17 an hour. The new rate will hopefully help remedy the county's staffing shortage. The new pay raise will impact existing employees as well. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The Cobb Animal Shelter will be offering free adoptions on Sunday. The shelter is still closed due to an outbreak of strep zoo. There will be a special pop-up event outside the shelter from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for animals that have been approved for adoption. It is still unclear when the shelter will reopen. (East Cobb News)
- The Cobb County Board of Education has hired a new assistant superintendent. The new hire will be responsible for school safety operations. Josh Morreale will assume the new role and the district will be searching for an individual to fill his previous position. The new school year begins on Monday. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
