Here are the top three stories today in Marietta:

  1. The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a pedestrian crash that occurred on Kennesaw Due West Road Wednesday afternoon. A 15-year-old was attempting to cross the road when a 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser struck him. The teen was life-flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The vehicle's driver was not injured. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. Argyle Elementary School's Jenifer Mitacek has been named Cobb County School District's Teacher of the Year. She focuses on bringing kindness into the classroom while teaching 2nd grade. Harrison High School's Jordan Motsinger and Awtrey Middle School's Derrick Tucker were named the district's Teacher of the Year in their respective grade designations last month.   3. Cobb County welcomes its first Black police chief today. The City of Austell has appointed Chief Orrin Scott Hamilton to lead the department. He is being sworn into the position at the Austell Treadmill Complex today. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
